Day 1 Airport Pick-up and Transfer to Your Accommodation in Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! As soon as you land, a friendly Gorilla Pathfinders representative will meet you at the airport and transport you to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you’ll have a chance to unwind and get ready for the incredible adventure that awaits you!

Day 2 Proceed from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, an Elephant Paradise

Your Gorilla Pathfinders Safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast. This morning, you will drive to Tarangire National Park, which is approximately a two-and-a-half-hour journey on good tarmac roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. Known for its large elephant herds, the park offers great opportunities to observe these magnificent animals congregating by the river. Additionally, you may encounter giraffe, bushbuck, and hartebeest, with various predators such as lions and leopards often in the vicinity.


Tarangire is also home to the highest diversity of bird species anywhere on the planet. You will find ancient baobab trees throughout the park, some of which are believed to be over a thousand years old. A picnic lunch will be served at a designated site inside the park.

After your game drive, you will transit to your accommodation in Karatu.

Day 3 Continue from Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater, a Big Five Haven

After breakfast, you’ll ascend into the cooler, scenic regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The first glimpse of the Ngorongoro Crater feels like stepping into a lost world. Encircled by towering volcanic walls lies a stunning wilderness of sweeping savannah, lush acacia woodlands, shimmering lakes, and vibrant swamps. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption 2 to 3 million years ago, this UNESCO World Heritage Site spans 260 km² and is renowned for its geological wonders and incredible wildlife.


Descending into the crater, you’ll find yourself surrounded by one of Africa’s densest concentrations of large mammals, including wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and a rich diversity of over 500 bird species. The crater also offers the best opportunity to spot the endangered black rhino in its natural habitat.


A picnic lunch on the crater floor amidst this breathtaking setting adds to the day’s charm. After an unforgettable game drive, you’ll return to your accommodation in Karatu.

Day 4 Proceed from Karatu to Central Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area until you reach the southern part of Serengeti National Park.


The Serengeti National Park is truly spectacular, known for its vast open grasslands that provide excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings. While it is home to a wide variety of wildlife, it is especially famous for its incredible annual migration. Depending on the time of year you visit, you may witness one of the seven wonders of the natural world, as vast numbers of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope migrate in search of water and fresh grass.

Day 5 Game Drive in Central Serengeti National Park

Day 6 Proceed from Central to Northern Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you’ll embark on a scenic drive from the Central Serengeti to the northern reaches of the Serengeti National Park. As you journey through the vast plains, you’ll be captivated by the changing landscapes, from wide-open savannahs to the lush riverine forests that line the Mara River.


Northern Serengeti is renowned for its role in the great wildebeest migration, especially between August and October, when millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move across the region in search of fresh grazing. Depending on the timing of your visit, you might witness one of nature’s most spectacular events - the dramatic river crossings, where the herds brave the crocodile-infested waters of the Mara River.
