Itinerary Details

Day-by-Day

Day 1 pick from Windhoek to Okonjima/Africat (300 km camping)

You will be picked up between 8:00 am and 8:30 am.

We will travel north, stopping at small towns along the way including Okahandja, where we have time to visit Namibia’s largest wood carving market. The market is operated on a local co-operative basis and is one of the best places to shop for truly Namibian souvenirs.

Continuing north, passing through farmland, we aim to arrive at Okonjima during the mid-afternoon. This gives us time to set up our camp and relax in the shade for a while before heading out onto the property to take part in the afternoon’s activities. After our educational tour, we will return to camp and prepare for dinner under the African stars.

Day 2 Transfer from Okonjima to Namutoni / East Etosha Region

Starting early and continuing north, we will pass through some small towns making short stops for fresh supplies and fuel.

Continuing on to East Etosha’s Namutoni Camp, we'll again aim to arrive in time for lunch. This affords us leisure time before heading into the park during the cool of the late afternoon for our first game drive.

Day 3 East Etosha Region – Swakopmund

Today is a free day. The idea is to allow time for everybody to do their own thing. Swakopmund is a very pleasant seaside town with lots of shops, a good stretch of beach (although the Atlantic here is quite cold) and an open-air curio market. There is also a very good museum and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium is located in Swakopmund. Alternatively, there are various optional activities that can be arranged. These include airplane and microlight flights over the desert, scenic drives, fishing trips (both from the beach or in a boat), four-wheel motorcycle (quad bike) trips into the desert and over the sand dunes around Swakopmund, sandboarding trips (also in the dunes), skydiving, surfing, bird-watching and many other activities are available. Then you'll be dropped off at your place in Swakopmund.

Is the Serengeti Worth Visiting

Every now and then a destination becomes so famous that people start questioning whether it can possibly live up to its own reputation. Serengeti National Park is one of those places. You have seen the photographs, watched the documentaries, read the articles, and somewhere in the back of your mind a small but persistent voice is asking whether the reality can genuinely match the legend. Whether all those wildebeest, all those lion prides, all that extraordinary golden savannah stretching to the horizon is truly as breathtaking in person as it looks on a screen. The short answer is yes. The longer answer is that the Serengeti does not just live up to its reputation it quietly exceeds it in ways that no photograph or documentary has ever managed to fully capture, and here is exactly why.
