Our representative will pick you up in Kigali between 7am & 11am and drive you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive to Uganda will go through Rwanda's northern town of Ruhengeri. You will then cross over into Uganda via the Kyanika border post. The drive continues through the nearby Kisoro town and finally to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey should take 5 hours. Arriving at Bwindi early in the afternoon will allow you to do optional activities such as the Coffee Making Experience, Canoeing at Lake Mutanda, and the Batwa Cultural Tour.
You will head to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct the briefing and cover the basics of what to expect during the trek. At this point, you will be told which gorilla family to trek. It is likely that other visitors will join you. The gorilla trek can take a few hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest.
Note: Depending on the availability of gorilla trekking permits, we might suggest trekking the gorillas at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
We will start the journey in the morning from Bwindi National Park and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey will take you through the stunning landscapes of western Uganda. You will arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park in the afternoon. After arriving at Queen Elizabeth National Park, join the Kazinga channel boat trip for an afternoon of game viewing. There is a chance to see many hippos, elephants, buffalos, and rare birds. After the boat experience, drive to the lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight.
We will drive to Kalinzu Forest Reserve immediately after breakfast to experience trekking the chimpanzees in their forest home. Kalinzu Forest Reserve is a haven for trekking chimps in Uganda. Given the proximity of the forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kalinzu Forest is a recommended chimp trekking area when visiting western Uganda. Visitors to Kalinzu Forest have more than a 50% chance of encountering the chimps. If you are lucky on the Kalinzu trek, you might meet other species of monkeys. These include the Colobus monkey, olive baboon, and red-tailed monkey. We will transfer to Kigali immediately after the chimpanzee trek. The drive from Kalinzu Forest to Kigali is estimated at 6rs.
